Just click on the appropriate link in the login box for Twitter or Facebook and you can then register, or sign in to your account using the username and password for Twitter or Facebook!

AFF Website Upgrade

Welcome to the new version of the Amador Flyfishers website.  The upgrade to the website was prompted by the changes made to the content management system that powers the website.  We have spent quite a bit of time transferring over the files, pictures, articles, menus, etc. to the new version of the site.

The Board of Directors decided that since we were overhauling the website, it would be a good time to purge the site members as there were numerous accounts for people who never used them.  These accounts represent a security risk.  Therefore it was decided that we should start from scratch.  This means that you will have to create a new account if you wish to have access to the website.  Click the read more link to see the instructions.

How To Submit An Article

The following is a quick introduction to the Content Management System (CMS) called Joomla!  This article will be on how to submit an article for publishing on the website.
User Types
There are three basic types of Users:  Unregistered, Registered Front-End Users and Registered Back-End Users.
The Unregistered users are typically visitors to the website who have not logged in and may not be registered.  They are also called Public Front-End Users.

The Registered Front-End Users are given modification privileges.  They can access the What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get (WYSIWYG) editor (Joomla Content Editor - JCE) to post or edit articles.  The four subgroups that are held under the registered front-end users category have varying submission capabilities.  The four types of front-end users are as follows:

  • Registered: Registered users can access restricted content (if available) but they are not allowed to submit new content articles.  They can submit web links.
  • Author:  Authors can post and modify their own articles and determine the publishing and stop publishing dates for their articles.  Their articles must be approved by a moderator before they will show up on the website.
  • Editor:  Editors, like Authors, can post and modify their content, as well as the content supplied by other Authors.
  • Publisher:  Publishers can perform any operation available to an Editor and may also publish or un-publish content from the site.

The Registered Back-End User Groups contain the various administrative users of the site.  They have the ability to change access permissions, alter the site template, create new sections and categories, install new components, and other functions.  The three groups for back-end users are as follows:

  • Manager:  The Manager has the lowest authority in the back-end group.  They have limited access to the administrator Control Panel.  They can confirm registration and perform basic maintenance on articles, sections or categories.
  • Administrator:  The Administrator can install and uninstall extensions, change the selected template, change the layout of  page, and modify the permissions of anyone with a lower security level than themselves.
  • Super-Administrator:  The Super-Administrator is the person in charge of the website.  They have no restrictions on the system.  Therefore there are very few Super-Administrators for security reasons.
